Make a Submission

Using our online forms is the easiest way to make a submission on a development application or advice that is before the Independent Planning Commission. Simply select the case you wish to provide a submission on from the list below, complete the form, upload any attachments, and then click the ‘Submit’ button. If the case you wish to comment on is not listed below, this means the Commission is not presently accepting written submissions in relation to that matter.

Your submission
The Commission invites interested parties (including stakeholders and members of the public) to make any submission they consider appropriate. When the Commission is determining a development application, the Commission is particularly assisted by submissions that are responsive to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure's Assessment Report and any recommended conditions of consent.

When determining a development application, the Commission has available to it all submissions already made to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure during its exhibition of the Environmental Impact Statement. Members of the public are encouraged to avoid duplication of submissions they have already made on the proposed development.

There are factors that the Commission is not able to take into account when determining development applications, including the reputation of an applicant or any past planning law breaches by an applicant. Please see our Public Submission Guidelines for more guidance about what to include in your submission

In accordance with our Privacy Statement, when you provide your submission using the online forms, you can request that your name and location that you enter into the form are not published by checking the relevant boxes. If you are making a submission on behalf of an organisation, please be aware that the organisation name will still be published.

Please also be aware that if you choose to upload files containing any personal information, these files may be published in full – including any personal information that you have chosen to include in these files. Files that you have uploaded that contain your personal details may NOT be redacted before they are published on the Commission’s website.

For more information about how the Commission manages your information, please see our Privacy Statement

Submission content
Your submission may not be published if it the Commission deems it offensive, threatening, defamatory or otherwise inappropriate. If the Commission has grounds to consider that your submission contains personal information of another person who has not agreed to the publication of that information, the Commission also may not publish your submission.

The Commission is not the author of submissions and does not check the accuracy of the content of any submissions received. The views expressed in submissions that are published on this website are not the view of the Commission, Commissioners, or the Office of the Independent Planning Commission.

How to make a submission

Thank you for taking the time to share your views with the Independent Planning Commission. The role of the Commission is to make planning decisions on certain development applications and provide advice on request to the Minister or Planning Secretary. When the Commission is determining a development application, the Commission’s decision follows a whole-of-government assessment that is undertaken by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI), and also included public consultation.

We would like you to submit your views in a way that helps you and helps us. You can do this by providing relevant and specific information in your submission. To learn more please review the public submission guidelines.
